Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched the “Maha Awas Yojana”. The project aims to construct 8.82 lakh rural houses in 100 days. The project also involves construction of toilets. The cost of this project is estimated at Rs 4,000 crore.
The Government of India has recently announced an affordable housing scheme for migrant workers affected by COVID-19. It was launched under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Prime Minister Housing Scheme
The main objective of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is to help the rural people below the poverty line in the construction of housing units. The beneficiaries of the scheme have been selected from the Socio-Economic Caste Census, 2011. It also includes the urban poor living in slums.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban is being implemented between 2015-2022. It will provide assistance to the urban local bodies who are the nodal agencies in implementing the scheme.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is being implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development. It aims to provide pucca houses to all homeless families by 2022. It aims to construct 2.95 crore houses by 2022. The scheme also trains rural Egyptians.
Affordable Rental Housing Complex
It is a part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. It was launched under the self-sufficient India campaign. The scheme mainly targeted the migrant workers who lost their jobs and livelihood due to COVID-19. Under the scheme, the Technology Innovation Grant was announced. Under this, an expenditure of Rs 600 crore will be provided to projects using innovation technologies for construction (PMAY).

The scheme includes middle income groups, whose annual income is more than 6 lakh rupees and less than 18 lakh rupees. The term of this loan is 20 years.
Plan progress
As of August 2020, approximately 1.07 crore houses have been approved. The number of completed houses under this scheme is 36.08 lakhs. Government of India has spent a total of 6.42 lakh crores

प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना
प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना का मुख्य उद्देश्य आवास इकाइयों के निर्माण में गरीबी रेखा से नीचे के ग्रामीण लोगों की मदद करना है। योजना के लाभार्थियों को सामाजिक-आर्थिक जाति जनगणना, 2011 से चुना गया है। इसमें झुग्गी-झोपड़ी में रहने वाले शहरी गरीब भी शामिल हैं।
प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना-शहरी को 2015-2022 के बीच लागू किया जा रहा है। यह शहरी स्थानीय निकायों को सहायता प्रदान करेगा जो योजना को लागू करने में नोडल एजेंसियां हैं।

यह प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना का एक हिस्सा है। इसे आत्मनिर्भर भारत अभियान के तहत लॉन्च किया गया था। इस योजना ने मुख्य रूप से उन प्रवासी श्रमिकों को लक्षित किया जो COVID-19 के कारण अपनी नौकरी और आजीविका खो चुके थे। इस योजना के तहत, प्रौद्योगिकी नवाचार अनुदान की घोषणा की गई थी। इसके तहत, निर्माण के लिए नवाचार प्रौद्योगिकियों का उपयोग करने वाली परियोजनाओं (पीएमएवाई) को 600 करोड़ रुपये का व्यय प्रदान किया जाएगा।
प्रमुख विशेषताऐं
इस योजना में मध्य आय समूह शामिल हैं, जिनकी वार्षिक आय 6 लाख रुपये से अधिक है और 18 लाख रुपये से कम है। इस ऋण की अवधि 20 वर्ष है।
योजना की प्रगति
अगस्त 2020 तक, लगभग 1.07 करोड़ घरों को मंजूरी दी गई है। इस योजना के तहत पूर्ण किए गए घरों की संख्या 36.08 लाख है। भारत सरकार ने कुल 6.42 लाख करोड़ रुपये खर्च किए हैं
