State Budget Increased More Than 20 Times in 25 Years<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From a budget of \u20b97,174 crore in 2001\u201302, Jharkhand\u2019s budget has grown to \u20b91,45,400 crore in 25 years \u2014 an increase of more than 20 times. During this period, the per capita income of the state has also increased 11.24 times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Celebrating its Silver Jubilee (25 years), Jharkhand has gone through several ups and downs in financial management. In the initial three years, the state reported a surplus budget, but later, the government also had to take loans. Despite these challenges, Jharkhand managed to maintain economic balance and structural stability over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gradually, there has been significant improvement in mineral revenue, industrial investment, the service sector, and agriculture. The state\u2019s budget has increased more than twentyfold in 25 years, making Jharkhand\u2019s economy much stronger and more resilient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When Jharkhand was formed 25 years ago, it was believed that the state would perform better than Bihar. It was estimated that after the bifurcation, Bihar would have an annual income of \u20b94,728 crore, while Jharkhand would receive \u20b937,007 crore in annual revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the time of its formation, Jharkhand began its journey with an opening balance of \u20b918 crore in overdraft, meaning the state treasury started with a deficit of \u20b918 crore. However, by 31 March 2001, just four and a half months later, the treasury reported a surplus of \u20b9123 crore \u2014 marking a promising start for the newly formed state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
