अभी इनकी संख्या 1 करोड़ 27 लाख है. 2030 ई तक इसकी संख्या 2 करोड़ 35 लाख तक हो सकती है. Gig एंड प्लेटफॉर्म सर्विस वर्कर्स यूनियन का कहना है कि अधिकांश डिलीवरी राइट वर्कर्स को हर महीने ₹10000 से लेकर ₹15000 तक मिलते हैं. इन्हें ईंधन मोबाइल नेट मेंटेनेंस खर्च खुद उठना पड़ता है. कंपनी इन्हें कर्मचारी नहीं बल्कि इंडिपेंडेंस contractor मानती है .वर्तमान में नियम बनने के बाद वेतन काम की स्थिति को और सामाजिक सुरक्षा को लेकर केंद्र सरकार ने ड्राफ्टिंग जारी कर दिया है जो सामाजिक सुरक्षा कोड 2020 के बारे में इसके तहत किसी भी gig वर्कर को इन योजना का लाभ पाने के लिए पिछले वित्तीय वर्ष में कम से कम 90 दिन तक किसी एक एग्रीगेटर जैसे जोमैटो स्विग्गी आदि के साथ काम करना जरूरी होगा. यदि कई एग्रीगेटर के साथ काम किया है तो यह सीमा 120 दिन की होगी
What are Gig Workers?
According to VKS Vinayiasacademy.com, gig workers are people who work on a temporary or project-based basis instead of doing a traditional permanent job. They mainly work through digital platforms, where they are paid for each task rather than receiving a fixed salary.
At present, their number is around 12.7 million (1 crore 27 lakh). By 2030, this number may increase to 23.5 million (2 crore 35 lakh). The Gig and Platform Service Workers Union states that most delivery and ride workers earn between ₹10,000 and ₹15,000 per month. They have to bear expenses such as fuel, mobile, internet, and maintenance on their own.
Companies do not consider them employees but classify them as independent contractors. Currently, after the formulation of rules regarding wages, working conditions, and social security, the Central Government has issued a draft under the Social Security Code, 2020.
Under this code, for any gig worker to avail the benefits of these schemes, it will be mandatory that they have worked for at least 90 days in the previous financial year with a single aggregator such as Zomato or Swiggy. If they have worked with multiple aggregators, this requirement will be 120 days.
